A Hauppauge company is hard at work under Long Island Power Authority to help other Long Islanders get power back.

Hawkeye Group, a Hauppauge-based company that's part of Willbros United States Holdings, was subcontracted by LIPA to help restore power to customers across Long Island. Their crews have been working non-stop since the storm as part of LIPA's 11,000 work force.

"We’re glad to be working to help our neighbors," said Rufus Kellam, president of Hawkeye Group.

Last week, the group helped remove a large tree that had taken down three spans of primary electrical lines. Hawkeye replaced the damaged utility pole and repaired the wire to restore electricity from east to west on Route 25A and Edgar Avenue in Aquebogue.
