Sertinos Cafe Closing Likely

If partnership opportunities fall through, the cafe will close Oct. 28.

Sertinos Cafe owner Craig Lowenthall posted signs in the eatery Saturday and announced on Facebook Sunday morning that the Smithown Main Street eatery would be closing Oct. 28 at 5 p.m. for good.

Via the Sertinos Cafe Facebook:

It's sad but true, after giving it a go for 14 months, the Smithtown location is closing its doors for good next Sunday, October 28th at 5pm. The community has been great and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your support and patronage. Unfortunately though, we just didn't have enough volume and we never made any money. We tried to make things work and many of you helped us by spreading the word and we will never forget! Best wishes to all our loyal customers!

Although Sertinos is scheduled to close in about a week, Lowenthal said there is a possibility the business could remain open.

Since Lowenthal posted signs that the location would be closing, between Saturday night and Sunday morning, two customers have offered to become partners. Lowenthal said he has a week for one of those two potential partners to work out.

"If anyone wants to ride in and help save the day I'm certainly open," he said.

Sertinos opened on West Main Street in Smithtown to the public Aug. 14 of last year, the first location of the chain to be opened in New York.
