Stop & Shop Launches New Pick-Up Service in Smithtown

Shoppers can place order for groceries online and pick-up from Smithtown store without fees.

Hauppauge residents have a new way to shop for groceries when time is in short supply.

Stop & Shop and its sister company, Peapod, have expanded their services at the Smithtown store on West Main Street to offer a pick-up service. Customers can do their grocery shopping online and pick-up the order in Smithtown for no extra fee, as an alternative to delivery.

"We’re excited about the rapid expansion of our new Pick-up service,” said Don Sussman, Stop & Shop New York Metro Division president. "Customers enjoy the convenience of shopping anytime, anywhere from their laptop or smartphone and then swinging by to pick up their groceries. It takes less than 5 minutes and they don’t even have to get out of their car.”

There is no minimum order requirement and no fee for customers to use the pick-up service. Shopper select a 1-hour time window to pick up the order, which is pre-packaged and loaded into their car by a Stop & Shop employee.

The Smithtown Stop & Shop becomes one of 8 Long Island stores to offer a pick-up option as an alternative to delivery via Peapod. The online grocery retailer offers its services in 24 communities across the United States.

While shopping online at Peapod.com, residents can create personal lists, read through nutritional information, sort products by price or nutritional criteria and more.
