Telecom Company Announces Bankruptcy; 130 Layoffs Looming

Personal Communications Devices files for bankruptcy, will be purchased by Florida company.

Personal Communications Devices of Hauppauge announced last week that as part of a bankruptcy settlement, it will be sold to an Orlando-based company, and over 130 employees will reportedly be laid off as a result.

Newsday reported that layoffs will include 78 in its corporate offices and another 53 in a warehouse run by the company, both of which are located in Hauppauge.

Quality One Wireless out of Orlando will purchase Personal Communications Devices, which reported $107 million in debt, for an undisclosed amount.
