The Artful Dodger Closes Its Doors Without Notice

A Smithtown nightclub has locked its doors, turns off phones in August.

A Smithtown nightclub quietly closed its doors, managing to evade lingering questions about its sudden departure from Main Street.

The Artful Dodger's glass windows and doors have been covered up, it's doors locked at 43 West Main Street without notice. There isn't any sign of music or crowds gathered outside its doors on Friday nights.

While it's trademark black-and-green sign remains, but the telephone number for nightclub has been disconnected for more than two weeks. Local newspapers and papers have been thrown on the sidewalk before the front door.

The Artful Dodger's Facebook page hasn't advertised an event being held at the Smithtown nightclub since mid-July. Instead, it open posts events and hiring sessions for a new nightclub, Radio, located on New Street in Huntington.

The closure of The Artful Dodger leaves another storefront vacant along Smithtown Main Street and the loss of foot traffic through the area on weekend nights.

Did you go to The Artful Dodger? Will you miss it, or is there a particular type of store you'd like to see take its place?
