What Do You Want to See Here? [Empty in Nesconset]

Former Foster's Grille storefront is a prime spot to fill. Have any ideas?

While there are plenty of businesses thriving in the Hauppauge and Nesconset  area, there are more than a handful of empty or boarded up storefronts in the community, a testament to the hard times the area, and the country faces.

And If Monday's story on the few is any indication, it's a subject that has people talking.

Over the next few months, Hauppauge Patch is going to spotlight these vacant businesses to foster discussion in the community on what can, should and could be done to rehab these abandoned places.

Today, we start with a restaurant space open in Nesconset.

Occupied by the bar and grill Foster's Grille until this spring, this location now sits empty on Smithtown Boulevard. The eatery went out of business only months after winning the title of "Best Burger" in the Food Critics Awards, beating out stiff competition from Five Guys in Hauppauge and Bobby's Burger Palace at the Smith Haven Mall.

Despite a high-traffic location, the 2,600-square-foot restaurant space hasn't attracted a new owner yet with it's $37 annually per square foot leasing price. If you are interested, Schuckman Realty has more information and photos of the property.

It's a large space, but what would you like to see there? Another restaurant or bar?
