What's on Tap: Croxley's vs. Tap and Barrel

While each has more than 50 beers available, there isn't much overlap.

If you're looking to hit a bar over the weekend but don't want your typical bar experience with the same beers available, you have two places in Smithtown with enough beers to try one a day for at least two months straight – Tap and Barrel and Croxley's Ale House & Eatery.

Tap and Barrel carries 55 beers on tap, 82 bottles and 19 cans, while Croxley's Ale House & Eatery has 80 ales and lagers on draught and 26 large format bottles.

What they have in common is that you won't find three major beer brands in either location – Budweiser Beer from Anheuser-Busch, Miller Brewing Company and Coors Brewing Company.

You might think that since there are so many beers on tap at each place that there would be a lot of overlap, but there isn't. Some of the beers on the Long Island menus such as the Barrier Mare Undarum and the Barrier Evil Giant Pia overlap, but the overlap doesn't often.

None of the German beers on the Croxley's menu – Paulaner Octoberfest, Warsteiner, Warsteiner Dunkel Lager, Warsteiner Octoberfest, Paulaner Hefe-Weizen, and Hacker Pschor Dunkel Weiss – appear on the Tap and Barrel menu.

With Tap and Barrel, the differences are with a few beers from each section of their menu, from the beers on tap to the featured beers, bottled beers and cans, such as the Alchemist Heady Topper, Avery Dugana and more.

While all the beers aren't yet featured on the Croxley's website, 68 currently are. A full menu is available at the bar.

First Croxley, then Tap and Barrel. Both offering almost 100 brands of high quality beer.. These two pubs are to beer what the IPAD is to literature All the quality you could want under one roof. No Miller, No Bud, no Coors, no way ! Give it a try !
