An Introduction: Chris D`Antonio

Just a bit of an introduction to Patch's newest blogger, Chris D`Antonio, and his future topics.

Good evening, my name is Christopher D'Antonio. I've lived here for 20 years. I graduated from Hauppauge High School, and have since graduated with my master's in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University.

My principal interests, and the reasons why I would like to begin blogging here on Patch pertain to my academic interests as well as my personal ones.I love history and have readily indulged in the history of Hauppauge, which with some investigation has yielded some interesting discoveries, such as the antenna farm owned by Mackay Radio which became the Industrial Park, or the Summer Home for Children which is now Branchinelli's.

Hauppauge is also at the nexus of some fascinating planning decisions that have been made in Suffolk County, such as the decision to locate the Suffolk County Center here, or the spur of the Northern State Parkway which carried it to its present terminus. But all of this is for a later time and date.

Find out what's happening in Hauppaugewith free, real-time updates from Patch.

The other interests which I expect to write about are my adventures in gardening, which I've been perfecting for two summers now, my ongoing efforts to practice the skills I learned in bicycle repair (Should you need any help feel free to ask), and my pursuit of my own family history in New York City and Italy, amongst many other subjects. Until my next post, I wish you all spectacularly well.
