9,350 Without Power in Hauppauge

Hurricane Sandy knocks out electricity to the majority of the Hauppauge community.

Hurricane Sandy left virtually nobody with power in Hauppauge. 

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Long Island Power Authority reported that 9,350 customers in Hauppauge have lost power after Hurricane Sandy ripped through the area, toppling trees and power lines.

LIPA is still assessing the damage to its grid, which was widespread across Long Island. The power authority lists more than 900,000 customers are without power.
