Board of Ed to Adopt Sexual Harrassment, Bullying Policies

Hauppauge Board of Education will hold a public meeting 8 p.m. Tuesday at former Whiporwhil Elementary School.

Hauppauge school officials will be voting on whether to approve new policies regarding equal opportunity, sexual harrassment and bullying on Tuesday night.

Hauppauge Board of Education will hold their second public meeting in May at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the former Whiporwil Elementary School. 

To kick off the meeting, Hauppauge school officials will recognize students for their academic achievements. Groups that will be recognized include Math Fair winners, the district's All-State musicians and students who have received video awards.

Following the awards and recognitions, Hauppauge board trustees will vote on adopting three polices regarding equal opportunity and nondiscrimination, sexual harrassment, student harrassment and bullying prevent and intervention. The policies are related to New York State's Dignity for All Students Act, which requires action addressing bullying and harassment be in place and implemented by June.
