DOT to Close Eastbound LIE Nightly for Road Work

Exits 53/Sagtikos State Parkway to Exit 57/Vets Highway to be closed for approximately one week, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

New York State Department of Transportation announced that it will be closing portions of the Long Island Expressway over the next week for preventative maintenance.

All eastbound lanes of the LIE from Exit 53/Sagtikos Parkway to Exit 57/Veterans will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday night. The closures are scheduled to last one week, weather permitting.

The DOT statement said the highway closures are for preventative maintenance projects to improve the longevity of the roadway for 175,000 motorists who travel this section of the LIE daily.

Drivers are asked to use alternative routes, to drive carefully through the work zone, follow the posted detour signs, and obey the posted detour speed limit, for their safety as well as the safety of the highway work crew.

Hauppauge residents may want to consider using Motor Parkway as an alternatives, which runs parallel to the LIE on the southern side from Exit 53 to approximately Exit 57.
