Event Spotlight: Job Fair at Nesconset Library

Suffolk County to host job fair Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. featuring range of employers.

Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center will be hosting a job fair for local job seekers this Friday in Nesconset.

Job seekers will have an opportunity to speak with employers at a job fair Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nesconset branch of the Smithtown Special Library District.

The event will feature more than 20 employers on hand to discuss job openings and hiring opportunities. The list of confirmed companies that will be present include Mercyhaven, C.D.S. Warehouse #240, New York Life, National Grid, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and St. Joseph's College.

The unemployment rate is hovering at 6.3 percent in the Town of Smithtown, according to New York State Department of Labor.  There were approximately 3,800 Smithtown residents filing for unemployment benefits last month.

Job seekers are advised to bring their resume and dress to impress employers.

The job fair is the among the last events scheduled by the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center in 2011.
