View Finder: Going Over The Edge For Charity

Dozens of residents rappel down the H. Lee Dennison Building in Hauppauge to raise money for disabled and autistic children.

Dozens of Long Islanders walked down the side of the H. Lee Dennsion Building in Hauppauge on Saturday to raise funds for charity.

The 2011 Over the Edge Challenge raised $122,247 for the non-profit Family Residents and Essential Enterprises, which helps provide services for Long Island children with autism, mental retardation and other disabilities. Teams solicited donations before taking to the 12-story roof of the Suffolk County office building to rappel their way down.

Those who took up the challenge included the Michael Rodriguez, owner of Innovative Dance Sports in hauppauge, on team Toxic Avengers. He was one of the top fundraisers for the event, raising more than $3,000 for charity.
