Jan. 8: Cheerleading, Juried Photography and Eagles Scoreboard

Saturday beats the winter blues with winter sports and arts exhibits.

Saturday's events aim to keep away the winter doldrums by mixing things up with seasonal sporting events and arts. 

1. Support  as they compete in a nearby competition at Smithtown High School West at 10 a.m. The competitive winter season is a great time to see the team's tumbling and gymnastic abilities, as Eagles' cheerleaders won second in regional competition. 

2. Smithtown Township Arts Council is hosting the  from 2 p.m. - 4p.m. It's a great chance to grab a sneak peak of the exhibit demonstrating work from 27 photographers across the United States.

3. Watch the Metropolitan Opera perform  without traveling far on icy roads at the nearby Staller Center at Stony Brook University at 1 p.m.

4.  Miss a game? Patch's brand new Eagles Scoreboard will have a summary of this week's varsity sports and details on who won.
