June 9: Prepare For Another Scorcher

Take a computer class or grab a cold treat to escape the heat wave.

This Thursday, a computer class at the library is one of several events happening indoors, offering a safe retreat from the early blast of summer heat.

Here's your top five:

1. Expand your computer skills with a course on at the from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Participants will learn how to create, format and print an Excel document. Call 631-979-1600 in advance make sure there's room for one more.

2. Town of Smithtown residents can to meet with an aspiring writer. Talia Carner will talk about her newest novel "at the Commack branch of the Smithtown Library at 7 p.m.

3. Does your teen have dreams of becoming a business or political leader? Applications are being accepted for two summer  in the Town of Smithtown.
