UPDATE: Power On for Most of Hauppauge

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, 342 customers out of 8,892 in the area are still without power.

Long Island Power Authority has restored power to most of Hauppauge and Nesconset by Thursday morning, but there are households entering their fourth day in the dark.

According to LIPA's Power Outage maps, 342 customers out of 8,892 in Hauppauge are still without power 10 a.m. Thursday. That's roughly 93 percent of the 4,774 customers reporting outages after Hurricane Irene.

Some residents have taken to social media networks to reach out to LIPA and others in the community, look for power restoration updates and vent frustrations.

In Nesconset, only 366 customers out of the 899 who reported a power loss after Hurricane Irene have had electricity restored.

Fleece lives in the Storybook Home section of Nesconset.

Meanwhile, most of Hauppauge's businesses have had power since Monday, and many business owners in Hauppauge's industrial park said their businesses never lost power.

As of Thursday morning, 99,000 LIPA customers are still left without power across Long Island, a big improvement from the 500,000-plus households knocked offline after Tropical Storm Irene hit, marking LIPA's largest power outages in 26 years.

The , but warned outages could linger into the weekend and next week in small isolated pockets.

Visit LIPA Storm Center's Outage Map to visually see a color-coded map of areas on Long Island without power, and receive information on the lingering outages. The outage map is only updated twice a day at 10 a.m. and 10 p.m., according to LIPA's website, so information may lag behind the work completed by roadway crews.
