Nov. 8: Facebook, Buddies, and Journalism

Monday starts the week with informative classes and volunteerism.

Monday brings the start of a new week packed with educational classes and opportunities to volunteer. Hauppauge Public Library is offering numberous classes and Patch is offering its first article about local history.

1.  offers the class at 10 a.m. Learn about social networking sites and getting involved in the Internet using Facebook, blogs and Wikipedia.

2. Lend a helping hand to open a book. A for children in sixth to 12 grades will be held at Hauppauge Public Library at 5:30 p.m. Take the first step to helping others enjoy reading.

Travel to nearby Stony Brook University to hear She will be speaking about the news channel's reporting on Sept. 11, Afghanistan and Hurricane Katrina It's part of the School of Journalism's Lecture Series starting at 7:30 p.m.

4. Patch is starting a monthly series discussing the history of Hauppauge. Check back later for our first article on Hauppauge Rural Cemetery.
