Oct. 27: Green, Home Business, and Police

This Wednesday packs a pair of conferences designed to businesses.

Fall is often seen as a time of change. This Wednesday, Hauppauge is hosting a pair of business conferences that offers business owners the chances to make changes.

Businesses can find ways to "go green" or entreprenerial spirits can look into making their own home business. If you are concerned about the community, drop by the Fourth Precinct tonight.  However, if you missed last night's board meetings, Patch has the details to fill you in.

1. HIA-LI is hosting its annual Go Green Conference at the Melville Marriott, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. The conference focuses on creating green jobs, using green technologies to improve your business, LEED/green building and sustainability. Keynote speaker, Robert Catell, chairman of AERTC will address "Sustainability: A Roadmap for the Present and Future."

2. If you are feeling innovative, a free  Home Business Expo is open to the public at the Hyatt Regency Hotel from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Find a way to open your own business from the comfort of home. Learn about the tax advantages of a business at home.

3.  Concerned about crime or problems in Hauppauge? attend the Fourth Precinct's Community Meeting at 7 p.m. Police officers will be on hand to answer questions and hear concerns from local residents. They can also provide information on current programs that address specific issues.

4. Did you miss the Hauppauge Union Free School District's Board of Education meeting last night at Whiporwil? Patch will have the details on several important votes on taxes to student cell phone use policy.
