PHOTOS: That 70's Band Gets the Crowd Dancing

Hundreds of concertgoers danced Tuesday night away at the Nesconset Free Concert Series.

Dark clouds and heavy rains held off just long enough for Nesconset concertgoers to get their groove on to 70's music Tuesday night before running for cover.

More than 2,000 local residents attended the concert, the fourth performance of the Nesconset Free Summer Concert series sponsored by the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce and Legis. John Kennedy Jr., R-Nesconset.

Jim Delahanty, vice president of the Nesconset Chamber, said residents began setting up lawn chairs, staking their spot for the show as early as 2 p.m. Tuesday. Despite a few early rain drops, crowds held out for a mix of Earth, Wind & Fire, Donna Summers, Chic and more.

That 70's Band had the crowd energized within minutes, as children and adults used the brick patio in front of the gazebo as a dance floor. The dancing floor grew throughout the night until the concert was cut short after 9 p.m. due to heavy rains.

On Aug. 2, Hauppauge native Jerry Costanza will perform songs by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett backed up by a nine-piece swing band. All concerts are free and start at 7:30 p.m.
