Tea Party Protests Against Taxes

Residents take up signs to protest high taxes in front of the H. Lee Dennison Building.

Hundreds of Tea Party supporters gathered in front of the H. Lee Dennison building on Route 347 in Hauppauge to protest against high taxes on Friday afternoon.

Protesters carried homemade signs bearing messages including "Land of the Fee" and yellow "Don't Tread On Me" flags. Local elected officials stopped to talk with protesters, including State Sen. Lee Zeldin, R-Shirley, to discussing topics including taxes and the failure of the federal government to agree on a budget.

The protest drew support from rush hour drivers who honked loudly in support of the rally as they drove by, drawing attention. The gallery above contains some images of the rally.
