More than 2,000 attend the first performance of the Nesconset Summer Concert Series Tuesday night.

More than 2,000 residents attended the first show of the 2011 Nesconset Summer Concert Series sponsored by the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce at the Nesconset gazebo Tuesday Night.

Residents of all ages, seniors to young children, could be seen clapping and dancing along to Almost Queen, a Queen tribute band, who kicked off opening night. The concert went well past the predicted end time of 9 p.m. as the band kept the audience singing along with favorites including "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "We Will Rock You."

Hauppauge-based Long Island Cares set up a booth to collect donations of canned food, non-perishable food items and money. The total raised was not available at the end of the night.
