Week In Review: DEC Begins Cleanup of Oser Ave Plume

State officials announced a plan is in place to begin cleanup of the hazardous waste plume on Oser Avenue in Hauppauge, that's affecting local groundwater. 


Town of Smithtown officials agreed Tuesday that its necessary for them to take action on abandoned properties in the area.

SSilk, a night club and lounge in the Meat Farms shopping center on Route 347 in Hauppauge, has seen many different owners and establishments over the  years. It has changed hands once again to new owner/managers Ken Alpha, James Arceri and Thomas Shaw who believe great success will come from this new nightlife hot spot.

The once was a driving force behind Sbarro, one of the most popular spots in Bensonhurst to buy smoked mozzarella and all sorts of meats.

As rising dissent began to take over the , a repeating question has emerged: Why isn't the vacant Houlihan's the target and not the last patch of grass on the built-out stretch of Route 25?
