Week In Review: Fire at State Offices, School to Limit Photo Sharing

Take a moment to catch up on the top news this week: 

An electrical fire sent more than 2,000 people scrambling out of the New York State office building in Hauppauge on Friday afternoon.  

While taking a photo with a cell phone and posting it on Facebook, MySpace or Twitter has become a part of everyday life, Hauppauge students might be asked to put their cameras, or phones, down at school events, even prom. 

The frozen treat train has roared into the Three Village area, and one of the latest arrivals is Cool Monkey, slated to open in July. Owner Tracy Sweeney, of Hauppauge, said location is key: Cool Monkey is located in the same Stony Brook shopping plaza as the  movie theater and popular eateries such as  and .

Terry Nee, of Nesconset, caught a 56-pound 8-ounce striped bass aboard "Lil Marlena" off of Montauk on Tuesday. 

A truck carrying a heavy load of fencing crashed through the guard trail of Veterans Highway, causing major road closures early Monday.
