An Islandia-based nonprofit is seeking help to rebuild its donation center and warehouse after Hurricane Sandy's devastation. 

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island workers showed up to work in the days following Sandy to find the storm had severely damaged the back of its offices, destroying its donation center. 


The Islip Town Board approved a $111 million budget, which includes a 28 percent increase in Town taxes, at a special meeting Monday afternoon. 

The 2013 budget was cut by $8 million following a public backlash against a preliminary budget that had called for a 65-percent hike in Town taxes

Smithtown Town Dips $7.3M Into Reserves to Fund $103M Budget
The Smithtown Town Board approved a $103 million budget for 2013, taking $7.3 million of rainy day funds to minimize the impact on homeowners' taxes at Tuesday's town board meeting.
