Week in Review: Nesconset Residents Outraged Over Sonic, SweetFrog Opens

Nesconset residents’ opposition to plans to bring a Sonic restaurant to the area quickly turned into outrage as residents felt their complaints fell on deaf ears at Tuesday night's town meeting.


Among a crowd of outraged Nesconset residents, Sonic franchiser owner took to the podium in efforts to alleviate local concerns and fears.

A sweet new business is hopping to Hauppauge, jumping on the new frozen yogurt trend in time for the summer's heat. SweetFrog Premium Frozen Yogurt has taken over the abandoned space at 601 Veterans Highway and Route 111 between Five Guys Burgers and Fries and Vallarta Mexican Grill. 


A 109-page report released Thursday by the State Department of Public Service stated that while power to over a half million customers was restored in roughly a week's time, Long Island Power Authority's communication with the public left much to be desired during Tropical Storm Irene last summer.
