Week In Review: Route 111 Accident, Schools Lose State Aid

A woman was injured in an accident that closed Route 111 south at the Long Expressway on Tuesday prior to the evening rush hour.

Hauppauge Public Schools could take a hit to state aid under Gov. Andrew Cuomo's proposed 2012-2013 budget, but would have more support for its students.

Up until this Saturday, Smithtown Town Highway Department had no reason to spend time behind a plow. The break has allowed the town to catch up and nearly finish cleanup of Hurricane Irene.
