What You Need to Know Before the Storm

On the last day to get prepared before Irene, here's what you need to know.

It's the last day before Hurricane Irene hits Long Island, the calm before the storm. Here's our list of things to do and know as you get prepared:

Gather batteries, flashlights, generators, food, water and other emergency supplies. Check our list of what stores have items in stock to help you shop efficiently.

Print out our list to put by your telephone or save to your cell phone in case you need help during the storm.

Suffolk County will use the CodeRED system during the storm to send out telephone calls, emails and text messages with the latest updates.
