Question of the Day: Will You Vote on the School Budget and Board Elections?

How important is it to cast your vote on Tuesday?

The polls are open for Hauppauge residents to cast their ballot, deciding whether or not to approve the Board of Education's proposed $97.2 million budget for the 2011-2012 school year.

In 2010, more than 3,000 local residents turned up at the polls to vote on the budget, school board candidates and a proposition to spend capital funds to update Bretton Woods. However, in 2008, less than 2,000 residents voted on election day and the budget failed by six votes, 951 to 956.

Our Question of the Day asks: Will you vote in Tuesday's school budget and board of education elections? Do you feel its important or out of civic obligation?
