7-Vehicle Crash Closes Motor Pkwy

The road, which was closed from Veterans Memorial Highway to the Long Island Expressway, has reopened.

UPDATE, 12:30 p.m.: The roadway has been reopened.

A crash involving seven vehicles shut down Motor Parkway in Islandia from Veterans Memorial Highway to the Long Island Expressway Tuesday morning.

According to police, the driver of a fence truck lost control of the vehicle's brakes and rear-ended another car that was stopped at a red light on Motor Parkway at 8:43 a.m. The truck forced the vehicle into another car, which set off a chain reaction involving seven vehicles in total, one crashing into the other from behind.

Two drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Catherine's Hospital.

Motor Carrier Services is currently inspecting the truck, police said.

Motor Parkway was shut down at 9:21 a.m. and remains closed.
