Armed Robbers Hit Hauppauge Hess Station

Suffolk police call in K-9 units, helicopter to search for fleeing perpetrators.

Suffolk County police are on the search for three armed thieves who robbed a Hauppauge gas station late Friday night. 

Suffolk police received a phone call at approximately 11 p.m. Saturday that armed robbers had hit the Hess Gas Station on Smithtown Bypass, in the Meat Farms shopping center. 

Based on preliminary reports of two men armed with guns, one with a knife fleeing the scene on foot, Suffolk police arrived with K-9 units as a helicopter conducted an aerial search. Police officers fanned out, searching the station, shopping center and nearby residential area with flashlights. Witnesses to the robbery were brought inside the convenience store for questioning.

A Crime Scene Investigation Unit van arrived at the Hess Station at approximately 12:30 a.m. 

Suffolk police detectives on the scene declined to comment on the incident, or give a description of the suspects.
