Arrest Made in Flagpole Crash on Motor Parkway
The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
• Denis Velasquez, 39, of Brentwood, was arrested Aug. 24 in Hauppauge and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor. Velasquez allegedly jumped the curb and crashed into the flagpole at the corner of Wheeler Road and Motor Parkway while driving his 2010 Toyota Camry. Police said he was intoxicated, and arrested him at 7:35 a.m. Velasquez was not injured in the accident.
• A 25-year-old Smithtown man was arrested Aug. 21 in Hauppauge and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor. Police stopped him for a traffic violation and said he had pills on him without having the appropriate prescription for them, and arrested him at 8 p.m. at the corner of Hidden Pond Park Road and Terry Road.
