Car Break-In, Criminal Mischief Reported in Hauppauge

The Suffolk County Police Department responded to the following incidents between Sept. 16 and Sept. 20.

• The owner of a car parked at OTB on Motor Parkway reported Sept. 16 that someone had smashed the rear driver's side window and stole a purse containing cash, credit cards and personal items sometime between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
• A customer at Panera reported Sept. 16 that someone stole a pocketbook containing a cellphone, credit cards and keys from a car that was parked, unlocked, at the restaurant.
• The owner of a 2009 Dodge reported Sept. 17 that someone scratched the vehicle with a key sometime between 8 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. The vehicle was parked at a business at 475 Wireless Blvd.
• A resident of Hubbs Ave. reported that the home's mailbox was damaged when someone threw a garbage can at it sometime between 11 a.m. on Sept. 17 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 18.
• A metal bender was taken from a work van parked in the street at a residence on Serene Place sometime between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 20.
