Car Break-ins Reported in Area Towns

The Suffolk County police reported the following arrests and incidents.

-Police said a 35-year-old Bellport man broke into several area cars stealing electronics and personal items.

According to police, items were stolen from a truck on Woodlawn Ave. and Moriches Rd. in St. James on Nov. 9 when the window was broken on a GMC pickup truck. The man stole money and a GPS.

Police said the same man stole hockey equipment, an iPod and other items from a 2007 Honda on Steven Pl. in Smithtown on Nov. 22. Police arrested the man in Hauppauge and charged him with petty larceny, a misdemeanor.

-Several incidents of vandalism were reported occurring at the Verizon parking lot in Hauppauge on Nov. 21.According to police, the windows of four vans parked in the rear lot were smashed. Batteries and network terminals were reported as stolen.
