Cops: Hauppauge Man in Car Crash Drove Drunk

Resident arrested for DWI charges after car crash in Riverhead.

A Hauppauge man was arrested Monday after police said he crashed into another car while driving drunk.

According to the Riverhead police report, Samuel McCoy was driving a 2008 Dodge truck on Horton Avenue when Robert McCoy crashed into him with his 2009 Honda Accord coming off of Reeves Avenue.

Police said, Robert McCoy, 50, was arrested at the point of the accident for DWI charges and brought to Stony Brook University Medical Center because of serious injuries. Samuel was brought to Peconic Bay Medical Center where he was treated and let go, police report said.

Police said the two are unrelated.
