Cops Seek Wal-Mart Purse Snatcher

Police are looking for information related to a July purse snatching at the Islandia Wal-Mart.

Suffolk County Police are asking for the public's help after they are saying a woman stole another woman's purse from a shopping cart at the Islandia Wal-Mart nearly two months ago.

According to police, on July 30 around 1 p.m., a woman believed to be in her 20s with red hair spotted a purse on the child's seat of a shopping cart and when its owner was not looking, the woman stole the purse from the cart. Cops said she was wearing white sneakers, jeans and a t-shirt, and had a gray sweatshirt tied around her waist.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be confidential and information leading to an arrest could offer a cash reward up to $5,000.
