Crime Log: DUI Leads to Crash

Police arrested a Hauppauge driver after he crashed into another vehicle at a red light.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

• Buddy Rose, 35, of Hauppauge, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, after he struck another vehicle at a red light in Ronkonkoma.

Police said Rose was driving a 1992 Jeep on Express Drive when he hit the car in front of him, which was stopped at the traffic light at the corner of Ocean Avenue. Rose was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital. Police did not have information on the condition of the other driver.

• A 42-year-old Hauppauge man was arrested outside of his Davis Street home July 4 after police allegedly caught him with more than $500 worth of fireworks. He was charged with unlawfully dealing with fireworks, a misdemeanor.

• A burglary was reported at the Sheraton Hotel in Hauppauge July 2. According to police, a guest of the hotel saw a person enter their room through an unlocked sliding glass door, which leads to the hotel’s pool area. The guest reported that the person took cash from the room and then fled.
