Police Report: Man Steals Power Tools, Damages Jail Cell

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County Police Department Fourth Precinct reported these arrests and incidents in Hauppauge during Oct. 27 to Nov. 2.

A 17-year-old male from Kings Park was arrested Nov. 2 in Hauppauge for third-degree criminal tampering. Reports indicate the youth was arrested for damaging a PVC fence.

Deena Galante, 22, of Brentwood was arrested Oct. 28 in Hauppauge and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state she was in a 2003 Jeep when she was arrested at 1:33 a.m. on Rt. 347.

Ralph Rugen, 47, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Oct. 28 in Hauppauge and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Rugen was arrested at 8:48 p.m.

Richard Benintendi, 48, of Stony Brook, as arrested Oct. 27 and charged with second degree harassment. Benintendi allegedly punched someone in the face during a work-related argument at a business on Hoffman Lane in Islandia.

Andre Machate, 41, of St. James was arrested Oct. 27 in Smithtown and charged with third-degree grand larceny, and third-degree criminal mischief. Police said Machate was arrested for the alleged theft of a generator and assorted power tools from a lumber store located in Nesconset. When Machate was arrested, he allegedly broke a fire suppression device in the holding cell, according to police reports.
