Crime Report: Drunk Driver Strikes Fire Hydrant

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Suffolk County Police Department reported the following arrests and incidents in Hauppauge:

Thomas Ellis, 33, of Hauppauge, was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle impaired by drugs on July 3. Ellis was driving on Brooksight Drive and crashed, police said, because of being under the influence of drugs.

Eileen Garcia, 20, of Ronkonkoma, was arrested and charged for first offense DWI on July 1. Police said that Garcia was trying to make a left from Old Nichols road and drove over the curb hitting a fire hydrant. She was arrested on Smithtown Blvd in Nesconset.

Evan Scalici, 24, of Islandia, was arrested and charged for operation of a vehicle while impaired by drugs.  Scalici was driving on 5th Avenue and Candlewood in Bayshore in the opposite lane, going the wrong way, according to police. He was arrested at the precinct, said police.
