Crimes Nearby: DWIs, Theft at Rite Aid, Insurance Fraud

A rundown of crimes from the areas surrounding Hauppauge.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Kings Park

Nicole Leone, 28, of Centereach was arrested Aug. 5 in Kings Park and charged with first offense DWI. Reports state Leone was allegedly operating a 1996 Jeep on Route 25A, Kings Park while intoxicated.

Commack

Kyla Fortunet, 23, of St. James, was arrested July 25 in Commack and charged with grand larceny. Fortunet allegedly stole from the located at 126 Jericho Turnpike, where she was an employee.

Jessica Jaycox, 28, of Providence, Rhode Island, was arrested July 26 in Commack and charged with prostitution.

Russell Schaefer, 28, of Mt. Sinai, was arrested July 28 in Commack and charged with DWI. Schaefer was observed by police driving a 1989 Ford at 9:53 p.m. on Jericho Turnpike.

Carlene Badini, 45, of Kings Park, was arrested July 29 in Commack and charged with DWI. Badini was observed by police driving a 2008 Honda at 9:20 p.m. on Jericho Turnpike.

Smithtown

William Schoepfer, 24, of an unknown town was arrested July 31 in St. James and charged with second degree criminal contempt. Reports indicate Schoepfer was arrested for allegedly violating an order of protection on King Arthur Ct., St. James at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Three Village 

Jacob Shurtluff, 19, of South Setauket, was arrested Aug. 1 in South Setauket and charged with second-degree strangulation. Police did not release any other details on his arrest.

Port Jefferson

A seventeen year old boy from Centereach was arrested July 30 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with third degree assault. The youth allegedly punched someone in the face in a parking lot on Route 112, Port Jefferson Station. Reports indicate two other suspects are at large.  

Adam Heller, 35, of Port Jefferson was arrested July 27 in Port Jefferson and charged with third degree criminal mischief. Heller was arrested for allegedly punching the hood of a Toyota Avalon on East Broadway, Port Jefferson at approximately 3:40 p.m.  

Sachem

Steven Herring from Farmingville was arrested on a charge of insurance fraud, August 1.

Stamatia Kouroutis from Holbrook was arrested on a charge of DWI in Holbrook on July 30.

Lisa Ellison from Holtsville was arrested in Islip on a charge of DWI, July 27.
