Crimes Nearby: Home Burglaries, Police Impersonation

A rundown of crimes reported from the areas surrounding Hauppauge.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Commack

Multiple pieces of jewelry were stolen from a Commack home on Aug. 30, police said. According to Suffolk County police, the thief entered a residence located on Walter Court by lifting the screen to the rear bedroom window.
Once inside, assorted jewelry, including a necklace, watch and earrings, were stolen.
The incident occurred around noon. No injuries were reported.

Sachem

The Suffolk County Police Department is investigating three burglaries in Holtsville that occurred during the past week.The incidents happened near the South Service Road, Wendy Drive and Abner Drive.

According to one victim, he arrived at his home to find electronics, jewelry and family possessions stolen on Thursday evening around 7 p.m.

Smithtown

Victor Nigro, Jr., 32, of Ronkonkoma was arrested Aug. 23 in Smithtown and charged with second-degree criminal impersonation. Reports indicate Nigro was arrested for the impersonation of a Suffolk County Police Officer.  

 Three Village

Peter Morrongiello, 46, of Setauket was arrested Aug. 26 in Stony Brook and charged with first offense DWI. Reports indicate Morrongiello was traveling in a 2002 Chevrolet when he hit a tree on Route 347, Stony Brook. Reports indicate he was arrested for DWI at approximately 9:50 p.m.

Port Jefferson

Gina Casano, 32, of Port Jefferson was arrested Aug. 24 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. Casano was arrested for allegedly operating a 2010 Toyota Prius without permission.

Peter Cash, 33, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Aug. 23 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with lewdness. Cash allegedly exposed himself in public.
