Crimes Nearby: Prostitution, Woman Arrested for Underage Drinking Party

A list of recent arrests and police activity in the towns neighboring Hauppauge.

The following information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Commack

Shannon Owens, 26, of New York City, was arrested Sept. 19 on Moreland Road in Commack and charged with prostitution and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Jessica Bevins, 28, of Bristol, Vermont, was arrested Sept. 19 in Commack and charged with prostitution.

Patrick Stockman, 46, of Commack, was arrested Sept. 20 in Patchogue and charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 112 in Sayville.

Jill Shaub, 34, of Greenlawn, was arrested Sept. 21 in Commack and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Shaub was observed at 7:40 p.m. driving a 2000 Mercedes-Benz on Jericho Turnpike.

Richard Miraglia, 25, of Kings Park, was arrested Sept. 22 in Commack and charged with DWI with a previous conviction in the past 10 years. Miraglia was observed at 3 a.m. driving a 1994 Chevrolet on Jericho Turnpike.

Kings Park

Steven Castriota, 40, of East Northport was arrested Sept. 15 in Kings Park and charged with DWI first offense. Reports state Castriota was traveling on First Ave., at Pelasky Ave., at approximately 9:24 p.m. when he was allegedly involved in an auto crash. Reports indicate it was determined he was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Margaret Karris, 61, of Kings Park was arrested Sept. 14 in Kings Park and charged with DWI first offense. Reports indicate Karris was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated in her 1998 Nissan Altima. According to police, she was traveling west on Main Street at approximately 5:37 p.m. when she was initially pulled over by police for allegedly not maintaining her lane of travel.

Dylan Robertson, 18, of Kings Park was charged on Sept. 15 in Selden with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana. Police said Robertson was was observed smoking marijuana in a 2009 Honda Civic at approximately 11 a.m.

Sachem

A Ronkonkoma woman was arrested Sept. 26 for allowing minors to drink alcohol at a party she held at her home on Saturday, according to Suffolk Police. Cops received 911 calls regarding a party on Duane Drive in Ronkonkoma on Sept. 24, where Michele McKinney, 44, hosted minors who attended the gathering and drank alcohol. Police said a 14-year-old girl who attended the party had to be taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center after consuming an excessive amount of alcohol.


Smithtown

James Smith, 34, of St. James was arrested Sept. 19 in St. James and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief. Reports indicate Smith was arrested for allegedly damaging a file cabinet located in a residence on Woodlawn Ave. Reports indicate he also allegedly threw a telephone across the room. The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 a.m. according to reports.

Marianne Eagler, 33, of Lake Ronkonkoma was arrested Sept. 14 in Smithtown and charged with third-degree grand larceny. Reports indicate Eagler was arrested for the alleged jewelry theft from a known female’s bedroom. Reports indicate she later pawned the items. 

Three Village

Fong Kwok, 24, of Lake Grove, was arrested Sept. 18 in Stony Brook and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Reports indicate Kwok was arrested for the alleged possession of suboxone on Jefferson Ave. at approximately 5:35 p.m.

Port Jefferson

A Middle Island man was arrested Sunday morning in Port Jefferson Station after he allegedly stole tools and construction equipment from five different storage facilities in Suffolk County over a two-month period. Arthur Strumpfler, 43, was arrested in a parking lot on Route 112 near Sagamore Hills Drive, Port Jefferson Station after two officers noticed a suspicious vehicle and placed it under surveillance. Police say they approached Strumpfler, when he admitted to the theft on Mill Road. For more info: http://patch.com/A-mvKb

Jonathan Merced, 24, of Port Jefferson Station was arrested Sept. 15 in Port Jefferson Station and charged with criminal obstruction. Merced was arrested for allegedly placing a pillow over a females head during an argument.
