The Suffolk County and New York State Police Department reported the following arrests:
Smithtown
Charles McLynch, 47, of Bay Shore, was arrested on Sept. 21 at 12:20 p.m. on fourth degree criminal mischief charges. Reports state McLynch was arrested at 727 Veterans Highway in Smithtown after taking a cellphone from a woman as she was attempting to call 911 and did not return the phone for two hours.
Commack
Three Commack residents went out to their cars on the morning of Sept. 21 to find their wheels were missing.
Suffolk County police report a series of car tire thefts in Commack happened between 11:30 p.m. Sept. 20 to 7 a.m. on Sept. 21. Police are searching for witnesses or residents who might know anything about the following cases.
Police received a call from a Deepdale Drive homeowner reporting someone had stolen four tires off their 2008 Infiniti between 11:30 a.m. Sept. 20 to 7 a.m. Sept. 21.
A second resident at 33 Schuyler Drive in Commack called police on the morning of Sept. 21 reporting a theft had stolen four tires and rims off their 2012 Honda. There were no witnesses to the robbery, according to police.
A Rensselaer Drive resident called Suffolk County police on the morning of Sept. 21 when they discovered four tires and rims stolen off their 2013 Infiniti. The vehicle owner said the robbery had to have taken place between 3:30 a.m. - 5:30 a.m. on Sept. 21. Police said they were unable to find any witnesses.
Three Village
Nicholas Cunard, 43, of Setauket, was arrested Sept. 15 at a residence in Dix Hills and charged with practicing an unlicensed occupation. According to police, Cunard offered to install a new pool liner and pool cover through his business, The Liner Doctor Inc., without possessing a valid Suffolk County home improvement license.
