Crimes Report: Man Accused of Burglarizing Nesconset Home

The following arrest information was supplied by the Suffolk County Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Suffolk County Police Department reported these arrests and incidents:

Melanie Venezia, 21, of Hauppauge, was arrested Oct. 5 and charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs - first offense. Police said Venezia was driving a 2007 Nissan westbound on Veterans Highway/Route 347 when she attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Route 111 at approximately 3:14 p.m. She struck a 2004 Toyota and 2002 Hyundai that were traveling eastbound on Veterans Highway as she attempted to make the turn, according to police. Upon being interviewed about the accident by officers, it was determined she was impaired by drugs. 

Marek Sochaki, 60, of Farmingville, was arrested Oct. 5 and charged with driving while intoxicated -first offense. Police said Marek was driving a 2008 Subaru Forester eastbound on Veterans Memorial Highway when he became involved in a motor vehicle accident at approximately 9:48 p.m. Cops responding to the scene of the crash reported observations Sochaki was intoxicated before he was transported to Stony Brook Hospital.

Brandon Fichtner, 22, of Nesconset was arrested Oct. 3 and faces felony charge of second-degree burglary of a dwelling. Fichtner entered a Nesconset home on Marion Street at approximately 9:05 a.m. on Oct. 3 by removing a screen from a rear window. He took assorted jewelry from the home, according to police.
