UPDATE: Wall Catches Fire in Hidden Ponds Home

No cause has been determined in the Wednesday morning Hidden Ponds house fire.

 

UPDATE 2 P.M. – Firefighters from the Smithtown, Hauppauge and Nesconset fire departments rushed to extinguish a house fire in the Hidden Ponds gated community Wednesday morning.

According to Chief John Hansen of the Smithtown Fire Department, a plumber was sweating pipes with a torch around 11:15 a.m. at 156 Hidden Pond Circle in Smithtown when a fire started in a wall of the home. Hansen said, however, that the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

No firefighters were injured in battling the blaze and the homeowner – who was home at the time of the fire – also left the home with no injuries.

Smithtown's Fire Marshal is currently on scene and an investigation is underway.

Breaking Story – Firefighters rushed to a house fire at the Hidden Ponds community on Wednesday afternoon. 

Suffolk County police said they received a call at 11:12 a.m. reporting fire in the walls of a home in the Hidden Pond Circle off Route 347 on Wednesday. 

Early reports stated what started as a chimney fire at 156 Hidden Ponds Circle spread, extending into the floors above. This could not be immediate confirmed with police or firefighters.

Smithtown and Nesconset Fire Departments responded to the scene of the fire. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, according to police.
