Sunday brings a unique mix of outdoor winter sports and local issues as we work our way into the new year. It's been getting warmer, so enjoy the snow while it lasts.

1. Head out with the family to the Town of Islip's annual winter holiday celebration, at the nearby Ronkonkoma Recreational Center from noon - 8 p.m. There promises to be plenty of fun, crafts, games and snowman making.

2. If you love cross-country skiing, take advantage of the opportunity while there's still snow on the ground at and state parks. It's a one way to get outside for exercise.
