Nesconset Company Dump Truck Driver Arrested

Suffolk police said driver was allegedly driving without interlock device after previous DWI conviction.

Suffolk County police arrested a dump truck driver for a Nesconset company for allegedly driving with a revoked license without an interlock device. 

Santos Zavala, 48, of Central Islip was arrested April 5 and charged with operating a motor vehicle without a required interlock device and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of motor vehicle. 

Officers from the Motor Carrier Safety section were conducting a truck inspection at the Park and Ride off Wicks Road in Brentwood, off Exit 53 of the Long Island Expressway. Police pulled over Zavala, who was driving a 2003 Chevrolet dump truck, registered to Syrbescapes in Nesconset. Zavala was previously convicted of DWI in September 2011.

Zavala was arrested at 2:14 p.m. His truck was taken off the road and he was issued five citatiosn for equipment violations.
