Nesconset Man Killed in One-Car Crash

Matthew Warner, 26, lost control of his car while on Gibbs Pond Road.

A Nesconset man was killed in a one-car crash early Sunday morning on Gibbs Pond Road in Nesconset. 

Matthew Warner, 26, was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima north on Gibbs Pond Road towards Prince Charming Road at approximately 4:20 a.m. on Sunday. Police said Warner was driving fast when he lost control of the vehicle, crashing into the curb, two traffic signs and a tree before coming to a stop. He was partially ejected from the car on impact. 

Warner was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office.

Suffolk County police have impounded the car for a safety check. Police said they will not release any further information on the crash as an investigation is ongoing. 

Detectives are asking anyone with any further information on the accident to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
