Woman Hit by Car in Shoprite Shopping Center

A Hauppauge woman hit by a driver Sunday afternoon is being treated for serious injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital.

A Hauppauge woman was hit by a driver outside Shoprite on Sunday afternoon, according to poilce. 

Suffolk County Police said Susan Hartmann, 52, was struck by a driver while walking through the Hauppauge Shopping Center parking lot, outside of, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Sunday. 

Hartmann was walking through the parking lot when she was hit by a 1999 GMC Yukon driven by Darlene Piritsch, 45, of Hauppauge, according to police. Piritsch had been driving westbound through the parkinglot when she turned to head south, swiping Hartmann.

Hartmann was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. 

Smithtown Fire Department and Suffolk County police responded to the scene of the accident. Hauppauge Fire Department arranged for a helicopter lift from Hauppauge High School, that was not utilized.

Suffolk County police said there have been no charges filed as of Monday afternoon.
