Police Ask For Help to Find Gary Melius Shooter

The owner of Oheka Castle in Huntington was shot in the head in February.

As Oheka Castle owner Gary Melius continues to recover from being shot in the head by a masked man at the Huntington castle in February, Suffolk police on Thursday released photos of a Jeep they say the shooter used the flee the scene. 

Melius was shot while walking to his car on Feb. 24 at about 12:30 p.m. The shooter fled the scene in an older model, light-colored four-door Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said. 

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

The 4 month gap in police asking for help is very suspicious. Especially posting the photo of the car, the trail has gone cold now, why did they wait so long???

There would be no need to change anything on that Jeep. there are so many of them out there, it will just blend in with all the rest. On your next drive look around and see how many of them you can spot

Being a Jeep owner, I notice no "cross bars" on the roof "rails" and, there's a trailer hitch. So, check out marinas and hauling areas. Gary remodeled my Wantagh home kitchen years back and it turned out great. Be well Gary.
