Police: Explosion Rocks Hauppauge Home

Suffolk County police are still investigating what caused serious damange to a home on Blydenburgh Road.

Suffolk County police are investigating what exploded, causing serious damage to a Hauppauge man's home on July 29.

Police received a call on July 29 at 3:00 a.m. about an explosion that happened on Blydenburgh Road in Hauppauge.

A man called the Fourth Precinct to complain about a large explosion that happened in the living room of his home, according to police reports. The man said he wasn't sure what caused the explosion.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found serious damage had been done to the house. The full extent of the damage and its cost are unknown at this time, police said.

Shortly after the explosion, the Islip Town fire marshal arrived on the scene to investigate. Police said they also called the Town of Islip Investigations to come and assess the scene.

Police said the origin of the explosion is still unknown, but they are still investigating and have no suspects at this time. Police had no further comment on this incident.
